Marcel’s Bakery and Kitchen – Montclair, New Jersey
One of my favorite places, especially for a delicious breakfast and coffee, is Marcel’s on Valley Road in Montclair, New Jersey, just a short walk from my home. Opened by chef Meny Vaknin, the food is delicious and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. While I’m always attracted to diner/restaurant/bakery scenes, here I loved the globe lighting, which was a fun challenge to paint. As my daughter asked, “How do you paint light?” I hope I succeeded! The interior has changed a bit since this painting was completed, but the food is as wonderful as always, so stop by!
